“SONGS OF LOVE AND PROMISE” CONCERT
Join the Rockville Chorus on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. for their “Songs of Love and Promise” concert at 7:30 PM at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre at the Rockville Civic Center Park located at 603 Edmonston Drive, Rockville, Maryland 20851.
For this concert, Rockville Chorus Director, Bryan Seith, has chosen a wide variety of selections – from sacred madrigals to Gilbert and Sullivan to songs from the Broadway stage. These include Palestrina’s “Adoramus Te”, “Finale from Gondoliers” by Gilbert and Sullivan (arranged by Leavitt), Leonard Bernstein’s “Make our Garden Grow” from Candide, and “It’s a Grand Night for Singing” from State Fair (arranged by Jerry Rubino).
Other highlights of this concert include “Daybreak in Alabama” by Kirke Mechem with lyrics by American poet, Langston Hughes, “Anthem” from Chess (arranged by John Purifoy), and “Blues in the Night” by the Chorus’s own in-house arranger, Jim Sadler.
The Rockville Chorus is currently composed of over 90 members – the largest number of members in the Chorus’s history. They have been delighting local audiences of all ages with quality musical selections for more than 30 years.
